Another Year, Another Dipsea!

So here we are once again, training for the annual Dipsea race. This years event takes place on Sunday 13th June or 90 days from today.

So what's different form last year and what did I learn from the 2009 race that will help me perform better this year.

Hills! Analyzing last years training and race day performance made me realize that I had really skipped  elevation training. Sure I was kinda fit but Dynamite and Cardiac (2 of the famous hills on the race course) killed me on race day.

As a result I have been running hill repeats with coach Kees since the beginning of February
http://keesfitness.wordpress.com/ This workout divides a local hill into 4 varying distances which are incorporated into a workout and combined with cross fit exercises between sets.

Along with a season of winter soccer and 7 weeks of boxing for fitness the hill repeats have given me a base to begin with.
